About Me
From Los Angeles, California and currently residing in Melbourne, Australia, Maureen Barten’s artwork is passionate, honest and always an experience in vivid colour.
Working predominantly en plein air, her use of aquarelle with pen and ink is a medium combination that readily matches the spontaneity and energy one feels when viewing her work.
In her studio, Maureen favours acrylic and mixed media on large canvases where she continues her exploration of colour, light and the physical energy behind each mark.
Maureen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the University of California, Los Angeles and has worked in the arts and creative environments all her life. She has a passion for travel, the local landscape of her new home in Melbourne and her portfolio is rich with her expression of experiences from around the world.
In the last year, Maureen created Art Escapes, an innovative series of day excursions to the countryside, seascapes and mountains around Melbourne offering opportunities to paint with others and gain inspiration. She’s teamed up with Ticket 2 Ride and boutique wineries to create day trips with a difference.
Maureen’s latest creation, Art Escapes, is designed for you to come along, breathe some fresh air, meet great folks and discover your hidden or simply resting talents.
